On the Father Side of Life....

How 'bout those flowers? That's courtesy of the paternal Grandma to be and Dave. Nikki appreciates the beauty of the flowers, while I admire the engineering of the package in which it arrived. Believe it or not, those flowers came to our front door boxed up and flown in from some exotic locale, packaged in a form fitting cardboard box and just enough water to survive the trip.

Anyway, this blog isn't about air-mailed flowers, it's about a blueberry-sized human that's currently baking inside Nikki's tummy. This being my first blog, I need to catch everyone up on this adventure from the father side of things.

While the miracle at hand had been in the works for at least a couple weeks, the lucky dad-to-be was let in on the secret about three weeks ago. The feeling I had was similar to that experienced the night I asked Nikki to be my wife. All at once were feelings of excitement, nerves, and happiness as she shared the news from the doctor.

I immediately entered paranoid and over-protective husband mode and have spent the past three weeks examining food labels, playing it safe, and generally making sure that Preggo is well taken care of, as she deserves.

Apologies in advance for the sappiness to come over these nine months, but it's an exciting time, and I'm loving every minute. The baby isn't here yet, but just like that, I had a new love in my life. A new little person will be with us soon inheriting all of Nikki's personality, humor, looks, generosity and all-around cuteness and of course inheriting my last name...at least that's the way I'd have it.

Unfortunately for all of us, he or she will be a complete smart ass, courtesy of me.

Here's to baby Premo and the beautiful woman who has to put up with carrying him or her around until next year.

Ok so here is my over protective friend comment!
If I hear you utter the following words in the next 9 months in any context within ear shot of Giagantor; 'll be coming after you.
Fat, fatty, fatso, tub, tubby, tubster, blimpy, blimpo.
Never say "So just how much are you planning on gaining?"
"When the baby comes, will you be able to see your feet again?"

I'm just kidding.......the list goes on my dear........if you are anything like the husband you have been to Nilki, you are going to be a fantastic Father.
Oh and PS. Plan on gaining some sympathy weight yourself. :)
