No Longer an "It"

She's been being poked, prodded, and stuck so many times during this pregnancy, it was nice to see this visit to the doctor stay on the surface of my wife. It's funny how I suspect everything is going smoothly between the visits to the doctor, but there's an intense moment of anxiety just before we hear the heartbeat again. The heartbeat reminds me that I've got a real little baby just cooking away in there, aside from Nikki's growing belly, hunger, bathroom breaks, and frequent nap times.

We got much more (or less) than we bargained for at this doctor's visit. Already a shining example of propriety, the second the ultrasound transducer was pressed into Nikki's belly we had a perfect view of our little baby's hiney and, ahem, nethers. Lo and behold, I've got a little daughter on the way.

If you are familiar with my family tree, you likely would have been bringing sports equipment and car magazines to the deliver room to greet the next Premo boy. Since we found out that Nikki was pregnant I had been overcome by that sappy, yet true, sentiment that "I don't care if it's a boy or a girl, I just want the baby to be healthy." (By the way, all signs point to a very healthy, on schedule little girl) In spite of that, it was exciting to know that I've got a daughter on the way.

I dropped Nikki off at work after the appointment and headed to the office, allowing me a little time to reflect on the news. I realized that any sort of machismo, carefree, and of course money that I have is pretty much out the window. I've got two beautiful ladies in my life now to get territorial over, spoil, over-protect, and pore over.

If you thought I was sappy before, you ain't seen nothing yet. I love my girls with all my heart.

A long awaited update

Mommy Premo here....Its been so long since our last blog that I'm not sure where to start. Travis and I are so happy to be parents that were busy trying to prepare.

So since I have the rest of the afternoon off, I thought Id share with you all whats been going on in our lives.

Let me start off by saying I couldn't do it with out the help of Travis and the rest of our family and friends. As my tummy gets more and more round the less I am able to do, and the more I become a "rolly pollie" as Travis puts it. Since our last blog my morning sickness has faded away and my energy level has become normal, for the most part. I still like my early bed times, but that isn't anything new for me. =) We've also have heard our baby's heart beat and found out the sex yesterday. To much surprise on the Premo side of the family we're having a baby girl. That's right, we have broken the tradition and we're the first, in several years, to have a baby girl. Granted theres a couple of girls in the family back on the East coast but for everyone here on the West side of things we're all very excited! We haven't picked out any names yet, but we have gotten/received a few pink and girly clothes. I cant wait to pick out more outfits.

Travis is going to be such a wonderful daddy, I just know he's going to go gaga over this little one.

We have pictures and a video of the heart beat, which Travis has access to, so in his next blog I'll have him post them for you all to enjoy.

In the meantime, we have another 4 months to go!

Love,
Mommy
